Design learning paths easily

EN – I would like to design learning paths containing resources and activities just like Moodle (but more easily). I would drag and drop an element in a list, only the first should be visible at the beginning. The student can’t walk through if he don’t perform the required action (reading, reaching a grade in an assignment…).

    Admin response

    Hi Vincent,

Thanks for posting in both French and English :-). Since my French grammar is not much to brag about I think we are both best of with me answering in English.

A learning path feature is absolutely a great pedagogical tool, and something that I would really like us to have.  We have done the first preliminary work for a learning path feature, and I hope it won’t be long until we can move on with this work.

Please follow our roadmap and release notes for future enhancements of itslearning.

    Best regards

    Henning

    Update 18/11 - 16

    Hi Vincent,

Learning paths can be created in itslearning today, e.g. with the Planner or ILP. It will require teacher involvement, but it’s also natural that a teacher follow his student’s development and help them find their learning paths. The mandatory demands in France are hence covered in itslearning. The work we do for back to school 2017 will lay the foundation for creating a learning path that is more dynamic.

    Best regards

Thank you all for voting up the idea for a dedicated learning path feature in itslearning. Since I know you’re just as eager as I am to have this in place I want to give you an update before we see 2018:

A dedicated Learning Path feature is currently in development. The goal is to run Pilots in Q1, and have a first version ready for release around Easter – but as always estimated release time is subject to change, so please take this into account. A learning path can be defined in a myriad of ways so I just want to sketch out how we define it when we’re working on it now:

A Learning Path is a sequence of resources, that a student can commonly go through in their own pace. This can be a linear sequence (moving on to the next resource), but it can also be a branched sequence where the next resource depends on the results of a student on a resource.

Teachers can arrange the material in steps and set the rules for alternatives, free navigation and unlocking. In essence, the teacher or curriculum manager defines the release conditions upon which new resources and activities will be presented to the user. Example of release conditions can be completion of a task or achievement of a certain score.

Learning paths can be shared and re-used. Shared paths can be customized by teachers. Teachers can see where students are in the path and provide more support if required. Students can self-pace their learning path, review progress and always know how to move to the next step.

I’ll get back to you when I’ve more info, so please stay tuned. I’ve attached a screen shot (teacher view), please note that this is work in progress and as such subject to change.

    Hi guys,

I’m happy to tell you that we’ll start working on a learning path concept later on this year. First we'll have to finnish all the great enhancements that’s coming for back to school this year. It’s a bit early lay out the details for a learning path concept, but I think it’s realistic to have a first version in place by mid-2018. Please note that developments are always subject to change, but an automated learning path concept is so important to get in place that frankly I’m not worried. We’ll update the roadmap later on, but for now I just wanted you guys to be the first to know that we have learning paths in the pipeline :-)

    Hi Henning,

EN - I am tracking the roadmap but finally nothing has changed regarding the learning paths. For information, having a learning path tool in LMS will be mandatory in France from September 16. Do you have further informations?

    Thank you for your follow-up.

    Best regards,

    Vincent
