In itslearning courses, students can see several navigation tabs, such as:
• “Contents” (Resources)
• “Participants”
• “Events” (Calendar)
• “Announcements”
• “Latest changes”
In many courses, teachers use Plans as the main way to organise learning. In these courses, the extra tabs can make the course harder to understand for students.
Students sometimes:
• Click outside Plans instead of following the learning path
• Get distracted by information that is not part of the lesson
• Miss important tasks because they look in different places
At the moment, teachers cannot hide these tabs. This makes it harder to create a simple and clear course layout.
Suggested improvement:
Add a course setting where teachers can choose what students can see in the navigation menu.
For example:
Student navigation settings
• Plans (always visible)
• Contents / Resources (show / hide)
• Participants (show / hide)
• Events / Calendar (show / hide)
• Announcements (show / hide)
• Latest changes (show / hide)
Or a simpler option:
• “Focused learning mode” that hides all non-essential tabs and keeps only Plans visible.
Why this is useful:
• Students can focus on the learning path in Plans
• Less confusion about where to find information
• Fewer distractions from extra menus
• Clearer structure for lessons and weekly work
• Better for younger students and new users
• Helps teachers guide learning step by step
Example:
A teacher builds a course using only Plans. Students do not need to use Contents, Participants, Calendar, Announcements, or Latest changes. But today, these tabs are still visible and can distract students from the main learning flow.
Conclusion:
This feature would make itslearning courses simpler and easier to use. It would help students stay focused and follow the teacher’s planned structure.

Hi!
Thank you for the idea and for sharing such detailed information. Allowing more flexibility in courses and giving teachers control over what content students can see is very valuable. This is something we are already working on, and your input supports the direction we’re moving in. We have already introduced different course focuses and we are also planning to make changes to the default course focus we have today: Subject courses.
Thanks,
the itslearning Product team
