Allow teachers to add h5p content to their courses

The h5p.org project adds different kinds of interactions to existing publishing websites.

These include quizzez, drag and drop, accordion pages, flash cards, images collages, PowerPoint like presentations, interactions like games and many many more.

Content creation within itslearning will be more fun!

BTW, already working in Moodle and Drupal

Great that it is now possible to create H5P in itslearning.

It would be even greater if it were also possible to import existing H5P-Files.

Dass das nach all den Jahren immernoch nicht geht, das ist ein Armutszeugnis.

Since the Corona-virus the emphasis on IT-based learning have exponentially grown. Therefore I was wondering if there is any news or if there is a status on itsLearning's part on integrating H5P more closely, especially for (test)results?

Are there any plans for a closer integration of H5P into itslearning? In my opinion, tests could be hugely improved by adding full H5P support including transfer of results into Itslearning.

I can see two ways to achieve this:

    1. Introduce a partnership with H5P SaaS, the commercialized service for H5P.

    2. Build an itslearning plugin, where students get a copy of a test (similar to MS Offices files as parts of assessments) and then grabbing the testresult from the test itself. Using external hosting for this would be no problem for anyone hosting a Wordpress/Drupal instance and H5P themselves will soon open their OER-HUB for H5P. By using copies of tests from within itslearning, there shouldn't be any GDPR related issues because no data needs to be transferred to H5P.com.

I would love to hear your ideas on that.

Hi, an itslearning site administrator can now connect their H5P account to itslearning and make it available for all users at their school through setting up an H5P LTI plugin on their site. The administrator will need an active H5P account with organisation management. A 30-day trial account will work fine for this purpose and can be extended to a full account as needed. You will also need a user with access to the Developer Portal at the site. In most cases, the system administrator user will have this access by default, reach out to itslearning support if you don’t have it.

When H5P is set up teachers can embed H5P content directly in a page, in a note or in any place throughout itslearning where the rich text editor is available.

What we cannot do at this time, is to offer a ready-to-go integration with H5P from the global side. Each customer will have to set this up manually. Also, it is not within our current capabilities to offer grade transfer from H5P back into itslearning, as this will only work with plugins.

Last but not least a couple of friendly reminders regarding GDPR: Please note that setting up such an LTI will by default mean that some data is transferred from your itslearning site to a third party, in this case H5P. Any customers who do this need to think carefully about what this means in terms of data protection and control over their own data. You’ll need to establish a Data Protection Agreement with H5P, and they will be considered as a processor of your data. When you decide to setup an integration like this on your own, we (itslearning) have no mechanisms in place to enforce and control that such an agreement is in place, like we do when customers setup integrations that are offered through the developer programme (https://developer.itslearning.com), where third parties go through a vetting process. There are warning messages and notifications in place to inform about this when setting up the app, but please keep this in mind.

All this being said, H5P content can now be created, shared, used and re-used in itslearning. Together with itslearning’s pedagogical capabilities it’s without doubt a powerful teaching and learning tool. Please reach out to itslearning support if you need help setting up H5P.

Now that H5P has released LTI support but only as part for their SaaS premium option has further consideration been given to completing the integration.

Hi again, totally agree that H5P is a powerful tool. We have it on our radar, but due to the amount of work it today requires to integrate with itslearning it's not prioritized for now. I'll circle back on this when H5P is supporting the LTI standard (that should make it easier to integrate).

Love H5P... I've been showing it to teachers. I was unaware that the embed didn't work in ITSL.  Good to know! I do hope this functionality is added.

What a great tool, thanks for sharing! On the website you can read that LTI is one of there upcoming major features. I hope Itslearning will get in touch to accelerate the process of development a LTI solution. With this cool features, you'll get in one step 29 new interactive activity's!
