Please let me archive, sort or delete messages

As a teacher I miss several functions in the improved message system that would make it more useful and safe for me to use.

I would like the possibility to

  • Delete or archive messages -  It is makes me freak out not being able to delete every short message from student and trying to locate the ones that are important.
  • To see if the student is online in messages, reading or writing a response.
  • A more distinct view of who is the sender an reciever. Like message bubbles (like you have shown in earlier road map) and let the sender show on the left and the other on the right side of the message window. It is common among IM. That would make it easier for every participant to both follow a conversation and participate in a group chat.
  • Make a group conversation more obvious - Like "You are now participating in a..." Students now makes the mistake and trying to send private messages through the group chat.
  • Forward messages

These functions would save teachers a lot of time using the message system without transforming it to a mail system.

How do I delete an answer, which is already delivered, to a task on Itslearning?

Our whole communication with over140 colleges and over 1000 students runs through the messenger and it is impossible to keep the overview without an archive, delete and label/ priority system! A lot of colleges want to switch to the old mailing system even if we will lose ItsLearning =(

I completely understand Julie, as it stands when a teacher has a lot of messages and conversations to remove its not a good experience to have a long list of "this message was removed" notices. Im sure our developers are taking all of your comments on board at looking at how the user experience can be improved in the messaging tool.

I agree. Being able to delete old messages would make the messaging system more user friendly.

When a message has been removed, they are still left with "this message was removed by..." I have hundreds of these - Even when the conversation is closed, you can't get rid of it.

    Thanks!

    Julie

I do believe that and administrator should have the option to delete messages. I found that it could be confusing for a student to have messages from a previos course and then receive new ones.

I think most teacher with 80-100 students a week have the need to sort their messages.

Maybe delete should be an Admin task for safeguarding and investigation purposes but a great idea :-)
