In order to manage large question banks, it would be helpful to use subcategories up to 3-4 levels to which questions can be assigned. Example: History > Middle Ages > Church > Inquisition.

Hi,
just wanted to update you on the latest roadmap development :-)

There is a difference between how to use questions from categories when assigning a test for students to take, and how to organise questions in a question bank. For the new test tool, we are also planning to implement a question bank, as something that exists independent of actual tests in courses. In this bank, the need for tagging or organising questions in a hierarchy of categories will be a very important thing to support. This is however not planned yet, and your idea about subcategories will be taken into account when we start that work.
For larger tests with categories, that are being reused, the option to exclude a category when drawing questions is a request we have not seen before. However we recognise this as a good idea because it makes sense in a pedagogical perspective, and it will be easy to include when we implement categories as part of the new test tool. This work is already in progress.
This is the reason the reply for the two different ideas are also different.

Dag Henning,
Our Support Team in the Netherlands say, they think the idea from my colleague about the zero questions category will be already addressed in the oncoming update of the Test tool.
In your response to my colleague it seems Itslearning Norway only considers this idea.
Can you please clarify since it really affects the way we build our question database incl. categories.
Thanks in advance,

Hi, normally we wait with commenting on ideas until they have gained more votes. But sometimes I think it’s ok to say what we are planning for the moment, like in this case. Please note that I’ve not labeled this idea with any status, e.g. not selected for implementation or planned. So the door is still open. When the new mobile friendly shareable test tool has been released to all customers, we’ll continue the work on the new question bank. This work is still in its design phase so any input here is much appreciated, like your idea :-)

Good morning.
Isn’t it a bit strange that Itslearning already responds to an idea with a clear opinion before people could have voted for the idea?
What will Itslearning do, if 1000 people vote for the idea?

We’re not planning subcategories in the new test tool. When time comes to implement the new teacher question/item bank in the new test tool, we would like to have some sort of tagging options for questions. This would make it easy to share, search for and reuse questions made by other teachers.
