Please allow students to SEE THEIR TEST SCORES BUT NOT THE TEST QUESTIONS

Before the last update it was possible for students to take a test, and they were able to see their scores but not the questions or answers when you toggled NEVER under SHOW ANSWER TO PARTICIPANT in EDIT TEST SETTINGS under OPTIONS below RESULT AND FEEDBACK.

Now if you want the students to see their scores either immediately after taking the test or when the teacher decides, you have to let them also see the questions.  The only variable now is REVEAL THE CORRECT ANSWERS (answer key).

Making a good test is extremely resource demanding and one hopes a good test can be used several times. In this day and age of digital communication and social media, it takes only one student to copy screen/text and send the contents of the test to the next class/student which has yet to take the test. This has happened to me repeatedly over the last year since the update!

I have been given one workaround that works: choose WHEN THE TEACHER DECIDES under SHOW ANSWER TO PARTICIPANT in EDIT TEST SETTINGS under OPTIONS below RESULT AND FEEDBACK, and then when everyone has taken the test, PUBLISH TEST RESULTS at the same time as DEACTIVATING the test.

This is not an optimal solution since everyone wants immediate feedback after taking a test. In this workaround, all students will have to wait for their score until the last person takes the test.

Test scores are also visible on the main dashboard under TASKS - COMPLETED, but not if there are a lot of completed tasks (only the first 15? are shown), so it's not a reliable place to find a test score.

Please address this issue in your coming update to the test function. It's important for the educators to have the ability to protect their tests and not tempt the students with an easy way to help others cheat.

    Admin response

    Hi,

This is planned as part of our new test tool. We are aiming at having a first version ready (for new customers) in Q3 this year, i.e. just after the summer. Based on user feedback from the first version of the new test tool we will continue to improve it and release it to all customers later on (do not have a concrete date now). For now, we are focusing our resources to develop the new tool and not improving the old one.

UPDATE: New planned release date for the new mobile friendly shareable test tool is Q1 (for new customers). Please follow our roadmap to stay up to date.

    Best regards

It is possible to allow students to see their answers, and then you could in addition indicate which answer(s) is/are correct. That means they will also know which are wrong.

what is NOT possible is for students to see their WRONG answers. Why is that???
There‘s only the option to show wrong AND correct answers.
It is necessary for students to know what exactly they had wrong to be able to retake a test.

Have you got an update on when the new test tool will be available?

Now it is not even possible for the students to see their grades on the main dashbord when the test grades RESULT AND FEEDBACK is turned to NEVER.

The only work-around is to choose TEACHER DECIDES WHEN TO SHOW ANSWER and then turn off the test. Then the students can only see their scores in the grade book, but only after everyone has taken the test.

For any online assessments, this feature is incredibly important. I am eagerly looking forward to the new test tool, and specifically this update.

I also agree that this should be an option.

I agree that this should be a high priority change. This is a huge disadvantage to teaching online and allows for just one student to copy/paste to share entire exam contents which will remain public on the internet indefinitely.

Yes I have experienced this same issue as well, for going on the last 9-10 months.  It makes it very difficult to run a credible educational program on a collegiate level when students can review the answers they received.  Unfortunately students can then copy the answers and provide them to future students.  We would love to have the option again to be able to have the students only be able to view the grade they earned immediately after they complete, and nothing else.  That should be an option provided.  With how flexible/many options your LMS has to be able to setup and customize a course/program, it does not make sense why this is not an option anymore.  I know updates can be difficult, but you do create and implement updates on a regular basis.  This should just be something that you include in the next update.  I've been with Itslearning since 2012 and want to continue on, but not if this simple yet incredibly important option is not brought back.
