option that would allow students to print / download documents published using office 365/Onedrive

At SDU (University of Southern Denmark) we have many teachers wishing for an option that would allow students to be able to print / download documents/files published using Office 365/Onedrive.
It would be nice to either have an option to activate / allow print/download on either the course level or on the file level.

I suppose this issue pertains to all files from Office 365, wether they are located in a standard SharePoint site, a Teams site or in OneDrive.

At Krokeide videregående skole in Norway we are trying for find a good way to link to files from Office 365 Teams along with assignments in Its Learning. The files should be downloadable and printable to allow students to work on local copies.

Currently, when linking from Its Learning to files from a Team, the files are only accesible in Its Learning in Preview mode for students. Teachers, however, have the ability to open the files directly.

If we grant a student accecc rights in the Teams SharePoint site he can open it from Its Learning too. This, however, beats the purpose of using Teams. Fiddling with access permissions on the Teams SharePoint site is bad practice. Furthermore, if we give students access rights to a specific folder in the Teams SharePoint site we also give them the same access rights to this folder via SharePoint. Thus students can go there and access files that are placed there in conjunction with planned assignments in Its Learnng. This beats the purpose of planning assignments in Its Learning ahed of time. Our teachers use all files for the current schoolyear to create a template folder for the next schoolyear, and then setting up assignments to be published in Its Learning based on files in this template folder.

A change in Its Learning UI to allow students to download files linked in from a Teams site would solve this problem for us.

Thank you for your idea. We would love the hear if there are other users that are using this feature to prevent students to download documents, so opening it up for discussion.

    regards,
