Tasks and Assignments seem very. In essence they serve the same purpose - issueing a task to students, with Assignments containing a lot more features than tasks, most prominently the ability for students to hand in their work on ItsLearning. At our school, the seperation of the two mostly creates confusion and sometimes leads to the case, that neither of them is used. I think you could fuse the two together by creating a checkbox within the "Create an Assignment" - Popup that just says "Allow students to hand in their work over ItsLearning". That would also leave the rest of the assignment features for things, that aren't supposed to be handed in on ItsLearning (fe. Group Management or Individual Feedback). An example where this could come in handy is when students are supposed to hold a presentation in school and the teacher wants to give individual feedback to each student.
In conclusion, i think that Tasks and Assignments should be combined (maybe just into Tasks) because they do very similar things, the seperation of the two often leads to confusion and Tasks could profit from the features of Assignments.

@itslearning: The functions and the design should be aligned.
Hi
Thanks for your idea! This has actually been discussed a few times, but so far we've chosen to leave them as separate tools. We'll leave the idea open for voting, to inform us if we should revisit this in future development.
Thanks,
