It would be good to be able to push out "MUST READ" messages so that we can deliver messages and files to users as soon as they log in before they are allowed to access the system. For example we could push out student expectations and the student would have to tick that they have read it before logging in, there could also be a comments box for users to query or comment on the message pushed out.

Thanks for sharing. A “must read” message just after logon is a tempting feature, and I can clearly see positive use of it. However, the downside is the risk of “misuse”/to frequent usage. It’s like on a webpage/newspaper, everyone wants their stuff to be on the front page. For now, we have no plans for implementing it, but I will make sure it’s being looked at.
Who do you think should have access to post the messages? All teachers? Only local system admin? Others?
Btw: when you send a message the student will get a notification icon in the upper right corner of itslearning. If he/she has the brand new native itslearning app a messages will pop up on the students smart phone.
However, itslearning has gone through major changes this summer, e.g. new design, new stream, new messages system, a brand new Library, etc. More changes will come in the near future. We have had a huge focus on making the communication and awareness in the platform better. I hope these enhancements will cover your needs when you get back to school this autumn.
We have also developed a set of new, so-called on-boarding features, to highlight and give tips about new features in itslearning. We have started to use these new on-boarding features, and you will see more of this in the coming months. I'll attach an example pic in case you have not seen it.
Please follow future enhancements in itslearning on the roadmap (we update it approx. once a month): http://www.itslearning.eu/roadmap
